How to Export Viber Messages for Court Evidence
Viber is common in international co-parenting situations, especially where one parent is based outside the US. Unlike some messaging apps, Viber has a genuine, built-in export for your text messages — it just isn't labeled the way you might expect, and it's easy to grab the wrong file if you don't know what you're looking for.
Getting the file
1.Open Settings from the Chats tab
In the Viber app (this is a phone-only feature — it isn't available from Viber Desktop), open the menu and go to Settings, then "Calls and messages."
2.Choose "Email chat history"
This option requests an export of your text-message history and sends it to an email address you choose. It only covers text — media (photos, videos, voice messages) isn't included in this export.
3.Open the ZIP and find the CSV
The email delivers a zipped file. Inside, chat history comes as a CSV — a plain spreadsheet file with one row per message and columns for sender, timestamp, and message text (the exact column names can vary between Viber versions).
4.Don't confuse this with the per-chat "Backup Chat" option
Long-pressing an individual conversation and choosing "Backup Chat" creates a .vcf file for that thread — that's a contact-card format meant for restoring the chat inside Viber later, not a readable record of the conversation's content. For evidence, the CSV from "Email chat history" is the file you want, not the .vcf backup.
What it doesn't include
The CSV export covers text content only — no photos, voice messages, or call logs. If media is relevant to your case, Viber's cloud backup (Google Drive on Android, iCloud on iPhone) preserves it for restoring the app on a new device, but that backup isn't designed to be opened and read outside Viber itself, so it isn't a practical evidence-export path on its own.

Upload the CSV as-is rather than the .vcf backup file, which Verity isn't built to read as a conversation.
