Is There an AI That Reads Your Co-Parent Texts and Shows the Patterns for Court?

Reviewed by Jacob Reed, founder of Verity ·

Short answer

Yes. CustodyComms, Wizard Lens, TextTimeline, Dispute Buddy and Verity all read a co-parenting conversation and organize it for court, in different ways. What a judge looks at is the messages themselves, with their dates and senders, not the AI's labels. So pick a tool that keeps every message and date, and treat its pattern labels as notes for you and your lawyer. Verity reads the conversation in your browser without uploading it and numbers every message in date order.

Months of co-parenting texts are too many to read twice, let alone hand to a lawyer billing by the hour. Software can sort them and point at the messages that matter. It cannot decide what they mean.

What does “for court” actually require?

  • The messages, not a summary. An exhibit is the messages themselves. A chart or an AI's description of them is, at most, a guide to where to look.
  • Who sent each one, and when. Cropped screenshots lose this. A full export keeps it. See why screenshots are not enough.
  • A way to show they are genuine. Usually your testimony, the phone, and the original export. See authenticating electronic evidence.
  • Something a judge can read quickly. Ten dated messages with numbers beat a 500-page dump. See what judges actually read.

Which tools read co-parent texts?

1.CustodyComms

A desktop program that puts texts, emails and co-parenting app messages on one timeline and exports a PDF for your attorney. Its Incident Finder flags likely incidents by keyword, and optional cloud AI writes summaries of the incidents you pick. Its site lists a free tier and paid plans at $29 and $149 a month, and says data stays on your computer by default. See CustodyComms vs. Verity.

2.Wizard Lens

A companion to OurFamilyWizard: it reads exported OurFamilyWizard messages, tags each one for tone, lets you search in plain English and exports numbered PDF exhibits. Its site lists $79 a month or $600 a year, with a 7-day trial that needs a card.

3.TextTimeline

You upload an export (CSV or XML, or OurFamilyWizard and TalkingParents records) and it indexes years of messages so you can search them, then you pay to download a transcript or an evidence report. See TextTimeline vs. Verity.

4.Dispute Buddy

A desktop app that reads an iPhone connected by cable, or OurFamilyWizard, AppClose and TalkingParents PDFs, and reports patterns such as coercive control, gaslighting and emotional abuse. Its site says processing stays on your computer except for its full behaviour analysis, which sends selected messages to its cloud. See Dispute Buddy vs. Verity.

5.Verity

Reads an export or screenshots of the conversation in your browser, so the messages are not uploaded. It flags patterns across the whole conversation and makes a PDF with every message numbered and dated, with a report quoting the flagged messages. One-time prices; nothing to install.

Other names come up too, such as Custody Armor, PatternViewer and DivorceX. Check each one's own site for what it reads, where your messages go and what it costs; our comparison pages cover several.

What can the AI part do, and not do?

It is good at sorting: finding the threats among thousands of messages about pickups, counting how often something happens, and putting it in date order. It is not good at meaning. Sarcasm, a private joke or missing context can be flagged, and abuse worded politely can be missed. A tool's pattern label is not evidence and not an expert opinion; an expert who testifies has to meet the court's rules, such as Federal Rule of Evidence 702. Ask your lawyer how they want the messages before you pay for anything.

How do you choose?

  • Your messages are in OurFamilyWizard: a tool that reads its records, such as Wizard Lens or Dispute Buddy. Verity reads OurFamilyWizard and TalkingParents PDFs too.
  • You want an ongoing workspace: a subscription timeline such as CustodyComms or TextTimeline.
  • You want it done once, without uploading the conversation: Verity reads it in your browser and charges once.

Where does Verity fit?

You export the conversation from WhatsApp, iPhone, Android, Messenger, OurFamilyWizard, TalkingParents and others, or pick screenshots, and Verity reads it in your browser. The free preview shows the patterns it found and one flagged message in full, and lets you read every message on screen. For your lawyer, the $19 option is a PDF of every message numbered in date order, with a fingerprint of the original export file. The $99 Standard and $149 Detailed reports add the flagged messages, quoted and dated, grouped by pattern; Detailed adds research citations and a methodology appendix.

This is general information, not legal advice, and Verity is not a law firm. We make Verity, so weigh what we say about it accordingly. Other tools' features and prices are as their own sites described them in October 2026 and can change; check them before relying on them.
