DARVO.app vs. Verity

Short answer

DARVO.app reads messages you paste in, names the tactic in each one and suggests a reply; the text is sent to its server and to Anthropic's Claude. Verity reads a whole exported conversation in your browser, looks for patterns across months, and gives you a dated, numbered record for a lawyer. One helps you answer a message tonight. The other organizes a history.

Both start from the same worry: messages that leave you second-guessing yourself. They answer it at different scales, and they handle your messages differently.

1.What each one is built to do

DARVO.app

Explain what a particular message is doing. You paste a thread and it names tactics such as deflection, blame-shifting and DARVO on each message, translates them into plain language, and suggests replies that hold a boundary. It covers co-parent, partner, family and workplace messages.

Verity

Organize a whole conversation. It reads months or years of messages and looks for warning patterns such as gaslighting, DARVO, threats and coercive control, and healthy ones such as accountability, across all of them, listing each flagged message with its date.

2.How you give it your messages

DARVO.app

Copy the messages you want read and paste them into the box.

Verity

Upload the app’s own export: WhatsApp, iMessage, Android backups, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Gmail, OurFamilyWizard and TalkingParents PDFs and more. Or pick screenshots. For a few messages, paste them into its free text check, which also runs in your browser.

3.Where your messages go

DARVO.app

Its security page says pasted text travels encrypted to its server and is processed by Anthropic’s Claude to produce the result, is not used to train models, and is not saved on the free tier. Paid plans can save analyses, locked in your browser with a key made from your password.

Verity

The file is read and analyzed in your browser. The messages are not uploaded, including when you buy.

4.What you get back

DARVO.app

An on-screen breakdown of each message and suggested replies. Paid plans keep a history of saved analyses.

Verity

A free on-screen preview with the patterns found and one flagged message in full. Paid PDFs: a numbered list of every message in date order, and reports quoting the flagged messages with their dates.

5.Price

DARVO.app

A free tier, and Standard at $14.99 a month for unlimited analyses and saved history.

Verity

Free preview. One-time: $19 numbered message list, $99 Standard report, $149 Detailed report. No subscription.

6.What neither one claims

DARVO.app

Says it is an educational tool: not therapy, not legal advice, and it does not label anyone a narcissist.

Verity

Says the same: its reports are supporting documentation, not a diagnosis or a legal finding.

Which one fits your situation?

Use DARVO.app when one message has you spinning and you want words for what it is doing, or help with a reply. Use Verity when you need the whole history organized with dates for a lawyer or a hearing, or you would rather the messages stay on your own device. The two don't compete much: some people use a paste-in tool day to day, then a full record before a hearing. For the wider field, see apps that check text messages for manipulation.

This is general information, not legal advice, and Verity is not a law firm. We make Verity. DARVO.app's features, prices and data handling are as its own site described them on October 20, 2026, and can change; check darvo.app before relying on them.
