How to export your text messages
Screenshots lose timestamps and context. A real export keeps every message, in order, with the time it was sent. Pick where your conversation lives and follow the steps — most take a few minutes.

What you'll end up with, and how long it takes.
iPhone texts (iMessage / SMS)
- I have a Mac: chat.db — upload it exactly as it is. (About 5 minutes)
- iPhone + Windows PC or Mac: chat.db (or sms.db) — upload it exactly as it is. (20–40 minutes, mostly the backup)
Android texts (SMS / Google Messages)
- SMS Backup & Restore (fastest): An .xml file. Upload it and pick the one contact you want analyzed — large backups are fine. (About 5 minutes)
- Google Takeout: A .zip (or the JSON file inside the Messages folder) — upload it as is. (Minutes to a few days; usually same day)
- iPhone: A .zip containing a .txt file — upload either one. (Under 2 minutes)
- Android: A .txt file — upload it as is. (Under 2 minutes)
Facebook Messenger
- A .zip — upload the whole .zip or the message_1.json file inside. (Usually hours; can take longer)
Instagram DMs
- A .zip — upload the whole .zip or the message JSON file inside. (Usually hours; can take longer)
Telegram
- result.json — upload it as is. (A few minutes)
OurFamilyWizard
- The PDF — upload it directly, no converting needed. (A few minutes)
Snapchat
- The chat_history.json file inside the .zip — upload it as is. (Up to 7 days — request it early)
Discord
- The JSON message file for the conversation — upload it as is. (Up to 30 days (often faster) — request it early)
Viber
- A .csv file — upload it as is. (A few minutes)
Signal
Signal has no chat export, and its account-data download doesn't include messages. Screenshots are the practical route — Verity can read them on your device (Standard report).
