TalkingParents vs. Verity
TalkingParents is a real, widely used court-facing co-parenting app — a lot of families are required or advised to use it. Verity does something different with the conversation once it exists. Here's what each one is actually for.
1.What it's actually built to do
TalkingParents
A dedicated communication platform for co-parents — Secure Messaging, Accountable Calling, a shared calendar, and payment tracking, all built around a fresh record going forward, once both parents are on it.
Verity
An analysis engine, not a messaging platform. You bring it a conversation that already exists — from TalkingParents, regular texting, WhatsApp, or any supported export — and it scores health and flags behavioral patterns in what's already there.
2.Timestamps and tamper-resistance
TalkingParents
Messages are timestamped with read receipts and, once sent, can't be edited or deleted by either parent — built from the ground up to produce an unalterable log. (Always confirm current behavior directly, since app features can change.)
Verity
Doesn't create the original record and can't make an editable platform tamper-proof after the fact — it works with whatever authenticity the source export already has. On a TalkingParents-style locked record, that's a real strength working in your favor once the conversation reaches Verity.
3.Tone tools
TalkingParents
Includes a sentiment-scanning and writing-assist feature that reviews a draft message before you send it and can suggest changes — a real-time, forward-looking check on a single message.
Verity
Does the opposite job: retrospective pattern analysis — coercive control, gaslighting, DARVO, and more — across an entire conversation history, not a single draft. It won't stop a message from going out, but it will show a pattern across hundreds of messages that a per-message tone check isn't built to surface.
4.PDF output
TalkingParents
Generates certified PDF records of the communication itself — timestamps, read receipts, digital signatures. Typically bundled into the higher subscription tiers, with per-export fees on the entry-level plan — check current pricing directly, since plans and costs change.
Verity
Generates a different kind of PDF: a forensic behavioral report — health score, flagged patterns with citations, and (on the attorney tier) trait and attachment-style analysis — built from whatever conversation was uploaded, not a log of the platform it came from.
5.Can Verity read a TalkingParents export directly?
TalkingParents
Its own export is a certified PDF record of the messages — not a plain text file, similar in spirit to OurFamilyWizard's PDF export.
Verity
Not as a natively supported format today — TalkingParents isn't yet on Verity's confirmed list of supported formats (WhatsApp, iMessage, Android SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Google Messages, Discord, mbox, Snapchat, CSV, and OurFamilyWizard). That's an honest gap, not a hidden one — similar to a couple of other platforms still pending a verified sample before a parser gets built.
Neither one replaces the other
TalkingParents documents communication that happens on its own platform, going forward — that's genuinely valuable for logistics and for building a clean record from this point on, especially if a court has ordered its use. What it can't do is retroactively analyze years of regular texting that happened before you switched, or surface a behavioral pattern across a conversation rather than flagging one message at a time. Verity is built for that second job specifically, and it works on any supported export — not only TalkingParents.
